Exempting Police Officers from Pistol Licensing Requirements

Description: HB 4535 (S-1) (Theis) would exempt an individual currently employed as a Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Act (MCOLES) certified police officer from pistol licensing requirements.

Upgrading MSP Officer Grades
SB 328 (S-1) (Schuitmaker) RC 14, 1/26/16 Passed 107-0

Description: SB 328 (S-1) (Schuitmaker) would add certain officer grades and delete references to the officer grade “policewoman” from within the ranks of the Michigan State Police.
             
Allowing Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund

Description: SB 303 (Knollenberg) amends Public Act 215 of 1937 to allow local units of government to invest cemetery perpetual care and maintenance fund money in certain types of mutual funds.

Deregulating Housing Inspections
SB 394 (H-1) (Robertson) RC 16, 1/26/16 Passed 73-34

Description: SB 394 (H-1) (Robertson) amends PA 167 of 1917, the Housing Law of Michigan, to eliminate the requirement that local units of government periodically inspect multifamily rental units. And, instead, that the municipalities will only be required to inspect these rental units only upon complaint from a tenant.

Allowing Out-of-State Physicians Affiliated with Athletic Teams to Practice in Michigan
HB 4792 (H-1) (WITTENBERG) RC 17, 1/27/16 Passed 101-6

Description: HB 4792 (H-1) (WITTENBERG) expands the list of health professionals that do not have to be licensed in Michigan to practice to include physicians working with out-of-state athletic teams.

Description: SB 539 (H-1) (Hansen) would repeal the Michigan Promise Zone Act and make needed revisions to the Michigan Promise Zone Authority Act. SB 540 (ANANICH) would amend the State Education Tax act to make an exception to the requirement that the State Education Tax revenue be deposited in the State School Aid Fund.

Increasing Solid Waste Civil Fines
